October Message From Youth Director:
First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who either brought or bought items at the bake sale for Christmas in a Backpack. This was the first fundraiser that we have ever attempted and it was a huge success. We raised right at $400.00 to help purchase more backpacks. Last month I set a goal to collect 100 backpacks for this year's mission project and it looks like we are will on our way to reaching our goal. Thanks for all of your support!!!!
Also in an effort to help raise additional money for this mission project, we will begin raffling off a $100.00 gas card. If you are interested in purchasing a chance to win the gas card, please see me or a member of the Mossy Creek Senior High Youth group starting October 1st. Tickets are $5.00 each or five tickets for $20.00. Remember tickets do not go on sale until October 1st and we will announce the winner at the fall carnival on November 2nd.
Also, I have posted a monthly schedule on the bulletin boards located outside the office and in the back of the sanctuary.

For all children ages four through the second grade, a children's church service is offered after the singing of the doxology and before the sermon. Children participate in bible time, crafts and fun activities. Children are always welcome to partake in Holy Communion.
Mossy Creek offers a variety of Sunday school classes for children:
| Pre-School/Elementary - Ages 3 - 7. This class meets each Sunday at 10:00 am. The philosophy of this class is that of Proverbs 22:6: "Train up a child in the way he/she should go, when they are older, they will not turn from it." This class involves teaching, music, crafts and snacks. Come and join us for the fun! |
| Primary/Intermediate - In this Sunday School class, we use the United Methodist literature to educate 2nd through 5th graders. This literature contains a Bible story each week and work pages that compliment the Bible lesson. After reading the Bible lesson aloud, we make a craft that coincides with the Bible lesson. Please join our class as we worship the Lord each Sunday at 10:00 am. |
| Youth Class - Youth and teenagers have a lot of questions that need to be answered and we hope to teach them as much about the Christian faith as possible. The Youth Sunday School class exists for youth in 6th through 12th grade to learn about all facets of becoming and being a Christian. We meet each Sunday at 10:00 am. |
Children's Choir - Sundays 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
The Children's Choir is a fun time of music, crafts and of course snacks. The age for this choir is four (4) through second grade. This choir presents two programs each year. The Children's Christmas Program is always a hit with the arrival of Santa. The spring performance is like being down on the creek banks, or Jonah's great adventure to Nineveh. In addition to the programs, seasonal activities include an Easter egg hunt and a fall hayride and carnival.

THANK YOU CARLY SAXON FOR A GREAT VBS 2006!!!!! |
Vacation Bible School is one of the greatest opportunities that we have to reach people during the summer months - especially children and preschoolers. Vacation Bible School (VBS) is always a highlight of our church year. It is a time for us not only to enjoy the children of our church, but also to reach out in our community to other children and their families.
PURPOSE: VBS at Mossy Creek is a special event with emphasis on Bible study and a mission that extends the ministry of our church beyond our walls to reach children around the world. One of our main objectives is to share with them the love of God and help to prepare the way for children to come to know Jesus Christ in a personal way as Lord and Savior.
WHO IS INVITED: Our VBS is designed for children ages four through completion of fifth grade.
WHO CAN HELP: The members of Mossy Creek UMC provide this special ministry once each year during the summer to the children of our church and community. Our workers come from the men and women of our church who volunteer their time and participate in special training for their assignments. The ministry is free to all who attend and is funded through the budget of our church.
